Battalion Chief Justin Ferren was raised in Coquille, Oregon. After returning from a deployment to Iraq in 2010, where he served as a combat medic with the Oregon Army National Guard, he began volunteering with the Coquille Fire Department. In 2013, he earned his Paramedic certification and was hired as a career Firefighter/Paramedic. Justin was promoted to Coquille Fire Chief in 2018 and served in that role for seven years before joining the Coos Bay Fire Department as a Battalion Chief in 2025.

Justin earned Associate Degrees in Paramedicine and Fire Science from Southwestern Oregon Community College. He is a certified Paramedic and Fire Officer 2. In addition to his duties with the Coos Bay Fire Department, Justin has served as a medic on the Coos County Emergency Response Team since 2021.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, Kerrie, and their two sons.
