Highway System

US Highway 101 follows the entire coast of Oregon and flows through the City of Coos Bay. The area is linked to Interstate 5 via state highways 42 (Coos Bay to Roseburg), 38 (Reedsport to I‐5 at Curtin) and 126 (Florence to Eugene).

Air Service

The Bay Area and Coos County are served by Southwest Oregon Regional Airport (airport code OTH) and include air carriers, executive aircraft accommodations, and shipping facilities. United Airlines provides non-stop flights to San Francisco (SFO) year-round, and daily, nonstop flights seasonally to Denver (DEN).

Port District

The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay is the public port authority for the Bay Area and is Oregon’s second busiest maritime port. As “Oregon’s Gateway”, the port actively seeks ways to promote maritime trade and transportation, and the seafood industry. The Port is a one of the area’s greatest assets and is an important part of the city’s economic health.

Rail Service

The Port of Coos Bay operates the Coos Bay Rail Line (CBRL), which transports approximately $460 million worth of freight in and out of our region every year. These products originate from and travel to various destinations throughout the United States, and even have some international destinations like Quebec, Canada and Mexicali, Mexico. About 89% of the product moved on the rail line is related to the timber industry. Some inbound products come to our area to be finished, while other products leave on the line to be finished, or travel to their final destinations. Product travels to the Union Pacific interchange near Eugene on the Coos Bay Rail Line, where it is connected with the National Railway network. One railcar has the capacity of 3.3 truckloads, which provides significant savings to shippers, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 75%, and reduces traffic congestion on the highway system.

Public Transit

Public transportation is provided by Coos County Area Transportation District (CCATD), a non‐profit organization. Routes serve Bandon, Coquille, Coos Bay, North Bend, Myrtle Point and Powers. CCATD’s mission is to support the needs of Coos County’s public transit passengers through advocacy, education, and the directly operated or brokered provision of public transportation service within Coos County and the surrounding area.

Other transportation includes Yellow Cab Taxi Company, South Coast Taxi, Red of Oregon, O.C. Cab Company, and Enterprise Rent a Car.
